Hello!
I’m Lisa Melia Volkova, a freelance children’s book illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany.
I specialize in creating soulful illustrations for children’s books, magazines, and board games. While my primary tool is Procreate, I often return to the tactile warmth of watercolor and ink to keep my style organic and fresh.
My work is deeply rooted in emotional storytelling and finding hidden beauty in the everyday. I have extensive experience working with international publishers and authors. My recent projects with Troubador Publishing (UK) include:
  • "I Don't Know What to Feel" by Rosie J. King — a touching story about emotional discovery, illustrated with a minimalist pencil aesthetic.
  • The "Jamie and Granny" series by Eileen Haywood ("Jamie and the Smelly Welly" and "Jamie and the Giggly Spider"), where I used a soft pastel palette to capture the magic of summer adventures.
I am also passionate about socially conscious art. My portfolio includes "My Not So Normal Family" (Australia), available on Amazon, and a charity coloring book for "Mercy", supporting children with cleft palates.
Being a mother of three, I draw endless inspiration from my children, who are my constant source of funny stories and my most honest critics. I work with clients worldwide—from the UK and Germany to Australia—and I am excited to be attending the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026. I’d love to connect and discuss how we can bring new stories to life together.
